Preparing for detox includes knowing what to bring. Packing the right items helps you feel comfortable and focused on recovery during your stay.
Bring comfortable clothing for several days. Think loose, easy-to-wear items like sweatpants, t-shirts, and layers. Most facilities provide laundry services.
Personal hygiene items are usually welcome, though facilities often have restrictions on items containing alcohol. Check with the facility beforehand.
Bring any prescription medications in their original containers. The medical team will evaluate all medications and incorporate appropriate ones into your treatment.
Leave valuables at home. Most facilities can't guarantee the safety of expensive items, and you won't need them during detox anyway.
Phone policies vary by facility. Some allow phones during certain times; others don't permit them at all. Check the policy and let loved ones know how to reach you.
